Login To Bag HillsWindy Gyle is probably one of the most popular hills and trig points to bag in The Cheviots. I even think it was one of the first big hills that I climbed.
Sitting up on the border ridge it has spectacular views on the whole walk up and you can also bag a few other hills on your way.
Then right at the very top is Russell's Cairn containing the Windy Gyle Trig Point.
Quickest way to get here is to park at Wedder Leap car park then just follow the permissive path north, skirting Barrow Law and then inbetween Ward Law and Little Ward Law, all the way to Windy Gyle on the border ridge.
Follow the route above or find it on OS Maps. Around 6km and 410m of climbing.
