I had left the three hills in Kidland Forest towards the end as I am not a big fan of walking through trees. I like the open hills where you can choose your own route and see miles in the distance rather than being forced to navigate a set path dictated by the surroundings.
This also didn't help that I parked at Alwinton and then walked 4km to get to the foot of Kidland Forest when I realised that I could have actually driven here!

The only good bit was that there was a fab cairn at the top with a mega view of Cushat Law.
From the parking head over the little metal bridge and then you have to navigate a few fords. For the first ford, if you don't want to plodge through, there is a little wooden bridge just off the track.
Then at the sheephold, the road bears west, but take the grassy track heading north following the Lindhope Burn. After 500m you will see a little track head west up into the trees. This is a clearly marked track and will take you all the way to the top of Sneer Hill.
Follow the route above or find it on OS Maps. Just over 2km and 225m of ascent.
No doubt you will now want to bag Dryhope Hill and Inner Hill while you're here.
