Login To Bag HillsThere are a couple of hills to bag over near Biddlestone and one of these is Silverton Hill. You can see it on the right with its little pal Clennell Hill to the left. Although Clennell Hill is 322m, it mustn't have a large enough prominence to qualify for the Cheviot 99 Challenge.
The shortest route up is from Biddlestone itself, but as this is a farming area, the roads tend to be narrow and there is hardly anywhere to park without being a nuisance to the farm traffic. So I would advise that you park on the green in Alwinton.
From here, head straight up Clennell Street and then follow the permissive path all the way in between Clennell Hill and Silverton Hill. As you enter the access land from Clennell Wood, it was a bit overgrown with some netttles, so maybe long pants are in order.
Follow the route above or find it on OS Maps. Just under 3km and 251m of climbing.
Here is a photo of the other side of Silverton Hill taken from Gills Law, but I think I must have sweated on the camera lens.
